GOLD Neonatal Conference News

2017 GOLD Neonatal conference is an online global event, connecting delegates with experts in the field. At our 2017 conference, we’re excited to offer a Pharmacology Add-on pack to enhance delegates’ learning experience. GOLD’s add-on packages give delegates an opportunity to deepen their understanding in specific key areas.

At this year’s conference, our Pharmacology Add-on includes 6 expert speakers. They bring a wealth of knowledge and professional experience into their presentations and will share information you can apply directly to your practice.

The Pharmacology Add-on line-up includes:

Amy Holmes PharmD, BCPPS: “Medication Use and Breastfeeding” will give you the tools you need to make sound decisions regarding medication safety during lactation by increasing your understanding of how medications pass into breast milk, and by helping you to access the most up-to-date research.

Bobby Bellflower DNSc, NNP-BC: “Necrotizing Enterocolitis (NEC: Pathophysiology, Current Treatment, and Prevention” will discuss presumed causes and pathophysiology of NEC, ongoing research to prevent NEC, and current treatment guidelines including drug treatment.

Jim Thigpen PharmD, BCPS: “Choosing wisely – Antibiotic Selection in the NICU” will help you to select the right drug, dose, interval, and monitoring parameters when working with this fragile population.

John Brock Harris Pharm.D., BCPS, BCPPS: “Neonatal Pharmacodynamic and Pharmacokinetic Characteristics and Implications for Pharmacotherapeutic Decisions” will focus on the pharmacodynamic and pharmacokinetic principles in neonatal populations and the implications for medication selection and monitoring. Delegates will create a foundation for making pharmacotherapeutic recommendations.

Lori Baas Rubarth PhD, APRN, NNP-BC: “Antibiotics in the NICU: Practical Understanding of Bugs & Drugs” will cover bacteria found in the NICU as well as the antibiotics used to treat them. There will be a focus on penicillins, cephalosporins, aminoglycosides, macrolides, carbapenems, and vancomycin.

Ying-Tang Ng Pharm.D., BCPPS: “ECMO and Medication Therapy Management” will examine the impact of the ECMO circuit on pharmacokinetic properties of medications and how understanding these differences and changes will help maximize medication therapy.

All add-on presentations are available as recordings throughout the conference period. You’ll be able to watch presentations as many times as you like, and handouts are available to download. Many of our delegates print out these hand outs to build their personal resource library!

See you at GOLD Neonatal 2017!
