Biography:

Mats Eriksson is a specialist nurse in intensive care with 41 years of experience from neonatal intensive care. He is a professor in nursing science with focus on pediatric nursing, at Örebro University, Sweden. He is also scientific advisor in neonatology for the Swedish National Board of Health and Welfare and a member of the scientific advisory board of EFCNI - European Foundation for the Care of Newborn Infants. The main focus for Mats Eriksson's research is pain in newborn children: assessment, management and implementation of state-of-the art knowledge. His research group PEARL - Pain in Early Life is focusing on how to include parents in the pain management of their hospitalized infant.
