Biography:
Alexandra Ullsten, PhD, holds a research and clinical music and art therapist position at the Central Hospital in Karlstad, Region Värmland, Sweden. She is affiliated researcher to the School of Health Sciences at Örebro University, Sweden. In 2010, she pioneered the implementation of neonatal music therapy in a Nordic healthcare context. The Central Hospital in Karlstad became the first hospital in the Nordic countries to offer a family-centered music therapy program for hospitalized infants and their parents. Dr. Ullsten, who is specialized in music therapy as procedural support in neonatal and pediatric care, is a frequently invited national and international guest lecturer. She is a member of the international research network Pain in Early Life (PEARL) and the principal investigator of the interdisciplinary multi-centre research project SWEpap - parents as pain management in Swedish neonatal care.
